Motorbike rider in life-threatening condition after crash near Devizes

The rider of a motorbike has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries after a crash involving a car in Market Lavington.

Devizes police say emergency services were called to the A360 at Church Street, shortly before 10.30pm last night.

The driver of the car has since been bailed - after being arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and drug driving.

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: "A man has been taken to hospital with life threatening injuries following a collision in Market Lavington.

"Emergency services were called to the A360 at Church Street, shortly before 10.30pm last night (22/9) following a collision involving a car and a motorbike.

"The motorbike rider, a man in his 20s was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with life threatening injuries.

"The driver of the car, a 21-year-old man, was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and drug driving. He has since been bailed while further enquiries are carried out.

"The road remains closed at the B3098 junction of West Lavington and A360 Gore Cross while investigators carry out enquiries at the scene.

"Anyone with information should call 101 and quote log number 330 of September 22."
