£7.5m revamp of former Zurich HQ to start in Swindon next month
The site is getting a major refurbishment
The £7.5 million renovation of the former Zurich headquarters in Swindon town centre will soon be getting underway.
FI Real Estate Management has confirmed building work on 1 Newbridge Square is starting next month.
According to the developer, the modern office and retail space will have a "strong emphasis on sustainable design and occupier wellness". It says the site, which is a four-minute walk from Swindon train station, will be made using materials with a low-carbon impact.
The 100,000 square ft plot will feature shared meeting rooms, a business lounge, gym facilities, shops, electric vehicle charging points, cycle storage and car parking.
It follows Zurich's move to its new state-of-art home, just off Fleming Way, in November last year.
'A workspace experience never seen before in Swindon'
Dominic Knowles, Head of Offices at FI Estate Management, commented: "We believe 1 Newbridge Square is a workspace experience never seen before in Swindon - a building that is not just moving with the trends, it's leading them".
The new site is part of a wider £1 billion regeneration of Swindon. Mr Knowles said the scheme will "transform" the town for local residents and workers.
The revamp is scheduled for completion by the end of 2023.
