Wiltshire Police and Crime Commissioner Philip Wilkinson has outlined where he wants the police force to focus it's efforts moving forward.

Mr Wilkinson retained his role as PCC after being re-elected on Saturday and has his first official day back in the job today.

He said the force are making progress in getting out of the engage process they were put into by His Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services in 2022.

"We now have all of the core components of capability in place. We've laid the foundations and we're already making progress," said the PCC.

He told Greatest Hits Radio that there are two specific areas of crime he wants the force to do more in dealing with.

"I want us to do a lot more in tackling retail and rural crime, we can do a lot more and I want us to be able to focus more precisely on those crime types which are causing the most harm."

Retail crime is one of the most concerning crime types happening in Wiltshire, after an increase of 42% in 2023, while the force has previously told Greatest Hits Radio that they believe rural crimes aren't being reported enough.
