Production resumed at Honda's Swindon plant after 'global supply issues'

It's been confirmed that production has resumed at Honda's car plant in Swindon.
On Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 January, the Japanese manufacturer halted some operations - citing delays due to "global supply issues".
It has told Greatest Hits Radio that production fully re-started at the South Marston site on Thursday 7 January.

The COVID-19 pandemic, along with Brexit, has created congestion and stockpiling at UK ports - reportedly causing the firm to be without the necessary car parts.
Permanent closure
In February 2019, Honda announced it would permanently shut the site in Swindon.
The potential impact on its 3,500 staff, and thousands of other local workers in its car production supply chain, have been well-documented over the two years that followed.
A government Taskforce was subsequently set-up, in an attempt to mitigate the consequences for employees.
Honda has since confirmed the closure date as July this year.
Cars have been assembled by the company in Swindon for more than 30 years.
