Officers have issued fresh advice
Last updated 7th Feb 2022
Wiltshire Police is urging people to be vigilant, after several quad bike and vehicle thefts across the county.
The Rural Crime team says the number of these types of incidents has risen over recent weeks.
It has now issued advice to help people avoid getting their vehicles stolen. According to the Rural Crime team, residents should:
- Invest in a quality padlock and chain, or something that takes time for the vehicle to be removed, to secure it to the ground.
- Never leave keys in the ignition, even if you briefly leave it unattended.
- Secure quads well out of sight from public view areas, such as roads and footpaths.
- Use security lighting to illuminate yards and buildings.
- Block in vehicles with other machinery or heavy items where possible.
- Fit audible alarm systems.
- If you suspect a crime in progress, call 999 immediately, observe and provide as much information as possible.
