Police investigate reports of racism and disorder after Swindon v Man City match

Officers want to hear from anyone with information

Police are again appealing for help from the public, as they investigate reports of racist abuse and public disorder on the night of the Swindon Town v Manchester City match.

An individual reportedly received verbal racist abuse after the game at the County Ground on Friday night.

The alleged incident took place between the Town End and the Don Rogers Stand, where the TV punditry was set-up.

'Behaviour of this nature will not be tolerated'

In a statement, Wiltshire Police said: "We are working closely with the football club to gather evidence and bring those responsible to justice.

"We would appeal to any fans in the vicinity of this area to share any videos taken during the match or post-match that could assist officers identify those involved and action can be taken swiftly.

"Behaviour of this nature is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated by us or the football club".

Alleged public order offences

Officers are also investigating alleged public order offences, that reportedly took place on the same evening at two local pubs.

It's thought that the first occurred outside the County Ground Hotel at approximately 6.45pm. Another incident was also reported at the Merlin Pub, where people were ejected between 9.15pm and 9.45pm.
