Police investigating "large disorder" in Swindon

A man in his 50s is being questioned

Police are investigating what they're calling "large disorder" in Cranmore Avenue, Swindon, last night (30/10).

Officers were called at around 10pm, after reports of a collision and people fighting near the junction between Cranmore Avenue and Crosswood Road.

They found a crash involving two vehicles- a black Volkswagen Golf and a black Ford Focus.

It is thought that a number of people exited the Golf and then damaged the Focus with weapons, before fleeing the scene. Both vehicles have been seized.

A red Hyundai located nearby which was also potentially involved has also been seized.

A 56-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of drug driving, and further arrested on suspicion of going equipped for theft, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and affray.

DI Steve Edwards said: “We appreciate this was a concerning incident for local residents and enquiries are ongoing to understand the full circumstances of what has happened.

“Reassurance patrols will be taking place this evening and over the course of the weekend and you will likely see an increased policing presence in the area.

“We are conducting enquiries to identify all those involved in this incident and we are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
