Police are appealing for information from the public, after a report of racist abuse at the Swindon Town v Manchester City match over the weekend.

According to officers, one person was subject to racism at the County Ground.

An investigation is now underway, with police analysing statements and CCTV footage from the reported incident, on Friday 7 January.

Wiltshire Police's Swindon Hub Commander, Supt Phil Staynings, said: "Behaviour of this nature is completely unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Anyone with information should call 101 and quote crime reference number 54220002136".

More than 14,000 people attended the televised FA Cup Third Round tie, providing a rare sell-out for the County Ground.

Although Ben Garner's side were beaten 4-1, a Harry McKirdy goal and Lewis Ward penalty save left Swindon fans in good spirits.
