Peaceful Protest in Swindon
Police were able to keep things peaceful during a protest in Swindon Town Centre
Wiltshire police say they "facilitated a peaceful protest in the town centre on Saturday involving around 25 people".
Chief Superintendent Phil Staynings said they were made aware of the protest through "proactive intelligence scanning and provided an appropriate response, balancing the right to protest with members of the public going about their daily business."
While further action is not planned for today, "resources are in place as a contingency, and this being kept constantly under review.”
Violent protests took place in towns and cities yesterday, which led to more than 90 arrests.
Sir Keir Starmer's told police they have the full backing of ministers to keep the streets safe from "thugs".
