The team behind the Save Oasis Leisure Centre have thanked everyone who've signed their petition.

It's been accepted by the Borough Council - and will be discussed next week amid other things as part of the New Swindon Plan.

The document sets out their priorities for the Borough over the next decade.

On social media, the SOS team said: "Good news, the Oasis Leisure Centre Sports Hall petition has been accepted by SBC and will be discussed during the Full Council on 25th July from 7pm at Civic Offices.

"Thank you to everyone who signed! Let's see where this goes."

Yesterday, councillors at their latest Cabinet meeting discussed the 'New Swindon Plan' - which is a document setting out their vision for a 'fairer', 'better', and 'greener' Borough over the next decade.

This includes the completion of existing projects as well as new initiatives that will make a positive difference for those living in Swindon - including the Oasis.

It's all been written as the local authority aims to 'reset its relationship' with local residents, whilst also making sure changes are made to deliver better outcomes that provide better value for money for taxpayers.

Subject to the plan’s approval, it will then be tabled for all councillors to vote on at a meeting of Full Council on 25 July.
