A new drive-through coffee shop could be coming to a retail park in Swindon.

But details of who might operate it, and even what else it might sell are scarce.

M&G UK Property, which owns the Greenbridge retail and entertainment park off Drake’s Way, has applied for permission to build what it calls “a retail building with ‘Drive-Thru’ facility” on the part of the car park in the southern portion of the park.

The actual site would be on part of the car park accessed from Garrard Way off Drakes Way, facing the Gym Group building in the park.

The application does not specify an operator and the only mention of what it might sell are references in an assessment of the transport impact of the plan to a “coffeeshop”.

If the plan is approved it will remove 61 parking spaces from the car park abutting Garrard Way, although the assessment says the remainder is more than enough.

A drive-past route will be constructed as well as accessible parking spaces.

It is not clear from the application whether M&G UK property has a client in mind for the new coffee shop or will want to secure planning permission before trying to market the site to potential operators.
