Man who smashed BMW into a lamppost in Swindon given driving ban
Driver hit speeds of more than 70mph after being pursued by police
A man has been banned from driving for two years after crashing into a lamppost in Swindon.
Andre Mohidin, 27, of Seacole Crescent, Old Town, hit speeds of more than 70mph on Bath Road and was seen overtaking vehicles in a residential area after being pursued by police on December 5, last year.
He was earlier spotted overtaking and accelerating near to a busy zebra crossing on Commercial Road.
He eventually crashed his blue BMW into a lamp post on Portland Avenue, with the post falling across the road and causing minor damage to a nearby house.
Mohidin pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and driving without insurance and as well as the disqualification, was given an eight month prison sentence suspended for 15 months.
He must also complete 100 hours of unpaid work, and pay £150 in costs.
