The ramifications of ignoring the current Coronavirus lockdown measures are becoming increasingly apparent in Wiltshire.

Over the weekend, despite travel restrictions, a family journeyed from outside the county to walk on the Salisbury Plain Training Area (SPTA).

The man slipped and injured himself, resulting in the following resources being tied-up for 90 mins:

* South West Ambulance Service Crew

* Wiltshire Air Ambulance Critical Care Crew

* 2 x MOD Police callsign

* 2 x Dorset and Wilts Fire and Rescue appliances

* 1 x Landmarc callsign

Six fixed penalty notices and an anti-social behaviour order were issued, with four motocross bikes also being seized.

An extensive public rights of way network gives access to around 68,600 acres of the SPTA.

Bosses at SPTA Headquarters said: "On the whole we are thankful for those that stayed at home and for those that used the plain for government permitted exercise purposes".

On Tuesday 12 January, Britain's top Police Officer warned that fines were "increasingly likely" for Coronavirus rulebreakers.

Dame Cressida Dick, the Metropolitan Police commissioner, added it's "preposterous" that anyone could still be unaware of the need to follow regulations.
