Police in Swindon are warning drivers to stay away from Newcombe Drive this morning after a serious crash on the Hawksworth Trading Estate.

The road's currently closed after the incident yesterday evening (15 September) - and we're told it's causing delays into the estate from Bruce Street Bridges - with a man rushed into hospital.

Officers say they were called by the ambulance service at just after midnight - which followed a petrol-driven Go-kart which left the road and collided with a bollard in Newcombe Drive.

The driver, a man in his 20s, sustained serious, potentially life-changing head injuries and has been taken to hospital.

The road is expected to reopen at around noon.

Any witnesses to the collision or anyone who may have dash cam are asked to contact the serious collision investigation team on 01225 694597 quoting log number 341 of yesterday’s date.

Alternatively, they can contact the team directly at SCIT@wiltshire.police.uk.
