A man from Swindon has been sentenced to two years and ten months in prison for assault

Kyle Milsom, who's 44, of Linden Avenue, Pinehurst was sentenced at Swindon Crown Court on Thursday

It's after an incident on the tenth of December where he hit his victim with such force to cause deep cuts and hospital treatment.

He was also given a 7 year restraining order.

Milsom was sentenced to two years and eight months for ABH, one month for battery and two months for another count of battery. The two sentenced for battery are to run concurrent with each other, but consecutive to the ABH sentence. He was also given a 7 year restraining order.

In a statement read to the court Milsom's victim said: "On returning home from hospital my children don't want to look at me or cuddle me, and as a mother I found this the hardest."

She also said: "This attack has left us all feeling vulnerable and traumatised."

PC Sam Bridgeman said: "Whilst I do not underestimate the long lasting effects Milsom’s behaviour will have on his victim, I have nothing but admiration for her for having the courage and bravery to report her ordeal to police – this is the first step in ensuring justice could be served and I hope this sentence is reassuring to both her and the community that we will do all we can to ensure perpetrators are put before the courts.”
