Man arrested after serious assault in Swindon town centre

A man has been arrested following a serious assault in Swindon town centre.

Officers were called to the Parade around 3pm on Sunday (24/07) to reports of a disorder.

Emergency services found a man in his 30s, who had a serious injury to his neck. He's been taken to hospital, although his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A 30-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and is in custody at Gablecross Police Station.

Detective Inspector Rachel Hardy, from Swindon CID, said: “I know this incident will have caused concern amongst the local community, particularly given that it occurred during a busy Sunday afternoon in the town centre.
