Man arrested after an alleged hit and run in Swindon

Emergency services were called in Ermin Street earlier this morning

Police in Swindon say they've arrested a man after a collision in Swindon this morning (28/10).

Officers were called to the scene on Ermin Street by ambulance workers shortly after 7.45 am, following a report of a pedestrian being hit by a car.

The pedestrian – a man in his 60s – sustained serious head injuries and has been taken to hospital.

The driver did not stop at the scene.

A road closure was put in place, to allow emergency services to manage the incident.

Since, a man in his 60s has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and drink driving.

He's being held at Gablecross Police Station.

Police say their enquiries are ongoing - and that any witnesses should contact officers, quoting the log number 51 of today.
