Part of Swindon underwater after engineers worked to repair mains pipe
Some of the town centre has been impacted by flooding this morning (19 September)
Part of Swindon is under water this morning.
The Borough Council say there's significant levels of water in the town centre after Thames Water engineers worked to repair a new mains pipe under Fleming Way.
A number of roads are closed and teams are on site - so as always check before you travel.
Swindon Borough Council say: "Some residents in the town centre have lost water access while engineers from Thames Water work to repair a new mains water pipe that they recently installed under Fleming Way.
"It was caused by a failed connection to the new water main.
"The significant flooding is contained to the construction site and is not impacting Zurich, Tri-Centre, the Parade or any of the neighbouring buildings. All town centre roads remain unaffected.
"Thames Water are on site to fix the issue and pump water to clear the construction site."
Thames Water have issued a statement to locals.
On their website, they've confirmed: "Our engineers are dealing with a burst pipe in Fleming Way, SN1. We’re sorry if you have low pressure or no water as a result.
"We’re planning how to stop the flow of water from the pipe. We’ll then focus on pinpointing the damaged section and how best to fix it.
"We aim to get the water back on within three hours of starting our repairs. If we think it’s going to take longer, we’ll update this message and tell you when we think supplies will return.
"We know how inconvenient it is if you lose your water supply, so we’ll work hard to get things back to normal as soon as we can.
"We expect to provide more information here by 13:10hrs."
You can find more information on if you lose your water supply on the Thames Water website.
