Ludgershall man fined for punching police officer in the face

A Ludgershall man's been fined more than £1,300 for the assault of an emergency worker and obstructing officers from carrying out their duties.
41 year old Thomas Cuss from Short Street has been sentenced at Salisbury Magistrates Court.
Officers were called out to reports of disorder and assault on May 10th.
Cuss punched one of the attending officers in the face, causing a black eye and a cut near his eye, while trying to stop officers from entering his home.
The payment ordered is broken down as a £750 fine, a £300 victim surcharge, £85 in costs and £200 in compensation.
PC Will Hammond from Wiltshire Police said:
"We will not tolerate assaults upon our officers and staff or other emergency services workers and will, with the support of the courts, robustly bring to justice those who assault the protectors of our communities.
"It is never acceptable for officers, staff, or volunteers to be assaulted as they undertake their duties to protect us all from harm."
