A former Police & Crime Commissioner candidate charged with making a false declaration in the nomination papers has been suspended from the Wiltshire Council Conservative group.
Jonathon Seed, aged 63, has been charged with making a false declaration in the nomination papers for the Swindon and Wiltshire 2020 PCC elections, according to the Crown Prosecution Service.
Now, it is confirmed, that Mr Seed is suspended from the Wiltshire Council Conservative group, according to group and Wiltshire Council leader, Richard Clewer.
Cllr Clewer said group rules state that if a member is charged with a criminal offence then they must be immediately suspended which will be reviewed once the case is concluded.
The council leader added that he could not comment on an active court case.
Mr Seed won the PCC elections in May but was disbarred from taking up the office when an historic drink driving conviction emerged.
In May, Mr Seed was also re-elected as a councillor representing Melksham Without West & Rural.
Mr Seed will appear at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on October 19.
