A woman from North Swindon, whose cat is one of four who died in the same street after being poisoned, has told us she can't believe it.
Sarah-Jane Webb lives just next to Emerald Crescent in Blunsdon St. Andrew. Last Friday night, her cat had just gone back out when she went to bed and started scrolling through social media.
Sarah-Jane said: "One of my neighbours posted on Facebook that she'd lost one of her cats to poisoning. All of a sudden my husband called me to come downstairs, I put two and two together and thought "Oh no". Chase was wobbly - we knew straight away something wasn't right.
She called her neighbour over who advised her to take her pet straight to the vets.
Sadly Sarah-Jane and her family had to make the difficult decision to have chase put to sleep to stop inevitable suffering.
When they returned from the vets, they found out the same thing had happened to another cat.
Sarah-Jane said: "We found out that they found it in their garden, and we started thinking "this is too coincidental, how many cats have been poisoned".
Officers are working with the RSPCA to try and find those responsible. Anyone with information is being urged to contact police on 101.
Swindon officer Danielle Hindmarsh said: “Four cats have died in tragic circumstances which has been incredibly upsetting for their owners.
“These deaths have taken place in the last few days and we are working with our partners to get to the bottom of it.
“Please rest assured that we are taking these incidents incredibly seriously and we are appealing for anyone who has information about what has happened to come forward.
“Cat owners should be vigilant about their animals where possible and consider purchasing GPS collars which are readily available online to monitor the movements of their pets.”
