Swindon Town defender Harrison Minturn has extended his stay at the County Ground.

The 19-year-old has agreed an additional year's contract at SN1, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2024/25 League Two campaign, subject to EFL approval.

The young defender made his first-team debut in November 2021 during an EFL Trophy group-stage tie against Newport County.

Since then, loan moves across the football pyramid have followed for Minturn to continue his development, joining the likes of Chippenham Town and Gloucester City.

In December 2022, Minturn returned to Swindon and was on the bench for their 1-0 league win at Barrow, before making his league debut for Swindon as a substitute in a 3-3 draw with Gillingham in January 2023.

After this, Minturn has become a first-team regular in matchday squads, making 23 additional appearances with Swindon and his loan spells across the 22-23 season, with eight of those with Town last season.

Minturn has also made an additional six appearances this season to take him up to 19 appearances overall for the club since making his debut in 2021.

Speaking to the club’s Media Team, the 19-year-old says: "Buzzing to get it over the line now it's here and I'm over the moon about it.

"For every lad who gets to play for their boyhood club and then extend their contract further, I'm over the moon and I'm pleased about it to be here for a little bit longer.

"Every time I step out there and being part of the team is amazing and even when I don't play, I'm celebrating because it means a lot to me and I'm just happy to continue my journey here."

Head of Football, Jamie Russell, said: "It’s great to have a local lad come through the academy and receive his first professional contract.

"Mino has adapted really well to first-team men's football and produced key performances last season with Carlisle at home and Leyton Orient away.

"For the academy, it's vital to have a player who reflects the values of not only the first-team but the club as well and he demonstrates this on a regular basis and we're delighted he sees his future with Swindon Town Football Club."
