Great Western Hospital: power outage restored
Planned appointments were postponed during the incident yesterday (9 July)
Great Western Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust have confirmed services are all back up and running - after a power outage yesterday afternoon (July 9th).
Planned appointments there were postponed for much of yesterday afternoon, after the Trust wrote on X at about 15:15 to say they're experiencing issues, which were said to have impacted areas including the Urgent Treatment Centre and the Emergency Department.
In an update last night, they said power IS back - but bosses are warning there will be some disruption to services over the coming days.
They've shared a 'big thank you' to their staff, volunteers and partner organisations.
On their website, bosses at 20:30 last night said: "Following a power outage earlier today, power across the Great Western Hospital has been restored.
"We are expecting our Urgent and Emergency Care Services to be very busy in the coming days and are advising patients with serious medical conditions to phone NHS 111 or 999 in an emergency.
"Patients are advised to attend appointments as planned tomorrow (Wednesday 10 July), unless contacted and told otherwise.
"Visitors are welcome to attend the hospital as normal.
"There will be some disruption to our services in the coming days and we are working hard to minimise the impact on patients.
"We apologise to all patients and families affected by this incident.
"A big thank you to all our incredible staff and volunteers who have gone above and beyond to continue to provide treatment and care for patients.
"We would also like to thank our partner organisations who have supported us in helping to keep patients safe."
During the incident yesterday, they cancelled a number of planned appointments.
If you have been impacted - you will be contacted by staff to re-arrange your appointment - but if you're due to attend today - the message is to attend as normal, unless you've been told otherwise.
