Public appeal after spate of graffiti in Malmesbury
Over 10 sports around town have been spray painted
Officers investigating a spate of graffiti in Malmesbury have issued an appeal for the public’s assistance.
Over the weekend police community support officer Becky Walsh collated evidence of a variety of incidents of graffiti around the town.
So far she has identified a large number of sites where graffiti has been spray-painted, including:
- in and around the vicinity of the Co-op on Tetbury Hill
- the bus shelter on Tetbury Hill
- the bins at the top of Niebull Close and Kings Wall
- the green electric box outside of the Riverside Community Centre
- a new fence coming along Reeds Farm Road
- a fence near Malmesbury Primary School running alongside the Vice football club
- the Kwik Fit tyre building
- a Co-Op pillar
- a lamppost running alongside Abbey House
- the signs at the bottom of the Abbey Steps
- the wall along Kings Wall
Ms Walsh is now carrying out enquiries and has identified some potential suspects, but needs to ensure all the relevant locations and any victims have been reported to the police.
Sergeant Katharine Smith said: "Unfortunately we have seen an increase in graffiti in the Malmesbury area and we know that this causes a huge amount of frustration and annoyance for the local community.
"As part of our investigation we need to make sure we have a full picture of the scale of the issue, and we would encourage people to report these matters to us."
