Four teenagers have been arrested and weapons seized in Swindon.

It's as police here continue with Operation Sceptre – a national campaign tackling knife crime.

Wiltshire Police say they arrested two 14-year-olds, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old last week on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A and B drugs and possession of a bladed article.

They were all detained last Thursday afternoon after reports a group with their faces covered were acting suspiciously.

A machete, lock knife, and five bags of cannabis were found behind a bin nearby while one of the kids had a large amount of cash on them.

Insp David Tippetts said: “There is no place for people carrying weapons in our communities and we recognise the community concern it is causing.

“Creating Safer Public Spaces and tackling violence are Force priorities and we will continue to work day and night to ensure those creating harm in our communities are caught."
