Four people rescued from Swindon flat fire

Four people and a dog have been rescued from a flat fire in Swindon.

Emergency services were called to the blaze in Welcombe Avenue just after 10am.

Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service remain at the scene.

Fire crews from Swindon, Stratton, Westlea and Royal Wootton Bassett responded to the incident.

The operation has since been scaled-back, with an investigation now underway into the cause.

Swindon Police have tweeted: "The incident is ongoing and a cordon is in place at the scene.

"We ask that members of the public please avoid this area while our enquiries continue".
