Four men sentenced for violent disorder in Swindon

Four men have been sentenced for their part in a violent disorder that took place in Swindon.
It followed a fight just after 4am on 23rd December,2022 on Fleet Street.
The men - aged between 19 and 28 - were all sentenced at Swindon Magistrates Court for affray.

Mason McRae, 20, of Courtenay Road, Swindon, Caine Bowers, 28, of Meadowcroft, Stratton St Margaret, and Warwick Schonke, 26, of Beatty Court, were all sentenced today at Swindon Magistrates Court for affray.
They were given 12-month Community Orders and ordered to carry out 250 hours of unpaid work. They were also ordered to pay £85 in costs.
James Finn, 19, of Celsus Grove was sentenced on September 20 at Swindon Magistrates Court. He was also given a 12-month Community Order, ordered to carry out 80 hours on unpaid work, ordered to pay £114 surcharge and £85 in costs to the Crown Prosecution Service.
It follows a fight just after 4am on 23rd December,2022 on Fleet Street, Swindon where a large number of people threw punches, kicks and even stamped on others during the disorder. Chairs were also picked up and used in the fight before police officers attended. Luckily, only minor injuries were caused.
Detective Constable James Pugh, from CID said: "This was a particularly complex case, involving multiple individuals, including members of the public who were caught up in the violent disorder.
"Identifying all those involved required significant investigative efforts and we are grateful for the assistance of the public following a media appeal.
“While the process of bringing those responsible to justice has taken time due to the number of people involved, we want to reassure the public that their safety remains our top priority.
"We are committed to ensuring that such incidents are handled thoroughly and that our community continues to feel safe and supported."
