Wiltshire Police have closed a small number of roads in the county after significantly heavy rain in recent days.

Some areas of the country experienced a month's worth in a matter of hours - and over the weekend, the charity with serves freshly cooked breakfasts to those who are hungry in Swindon said they've been devastated twice - and issued an urgent plea for help.

They said: "We need sandbags...to stop the water flowing into the Pilgrim Centre cafe.

"Some of our volunteers are here now helping Wayne to clear up and hopefully save the floors. But more rain is forecast...and we have to stop it so we can open in the morning to serve breakfasts to those who must be suffering hugely in this weather.

"Please call, or message Wayne 07359 330437 if you can help us with SANDBAGS, or a water vacs or some dehumidifiers!"

Today (24 September), police tell us the A4 in Calne's closed in both directions through Derry Hill because of what they're describing as severe flooding under the Millennium Bridge.

A few hours ago on social media, they confirmed a number of cars had been made stranded in the area.

It's not the only place with flood alerts this morning, with alerts in place around Swindon, Royal Wootton Bassett, and Chippenham.

Officers said: "Please be aware of road closures in place on the A4 running through Derry Hill, between Chippenham and Calne, due to severe flooding under the Millennium Bridge.

"A number of cars are currently stranded in the area.

"Further flooding has also been reported in Mile Elm.

"Drivers are advised to seek alternative routes and expect delays in the area."
