Two separate collisions on the M4 (27th March) have caused disruption and traffic problems between Chippenham and Swindon.

The accidents happened between junction 16 and 17 and police have arrested one driver for drink driving.

The incident left traffic at a standstill but all lanes are now open.

A Wiltshire Police spokesperson has given us this statement: "We were called to the M4 between junction 17 and 16 eastbound shortly after 8am this morning after a car collided with the central reservation.

"This incident was quickly resolved, however, shortly after this, a second collision took place – one of the drivers involved in this incident was arrested for drink driving and taken to custody in Swindon."
