Man left with head injuries after assault involving bat in Corsham
Police have issued an appeal for information
Police have arrested two people after a man in his 50s was reportedly assaulted with a bat and left with head injuries at the British Legion in Corsham.
Two men in their 30s have been arrested following the incident on Saturday night, when officers responded to what was thought to have involved two people known to each other.
Both have been released on bail pending further investigation.
In their appeal, police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following an assault in Corsham which left a man with head injuries.
"Officers responded to reports of an assault on Long Close Avenue at 10.55pm on Saturday (09/11) involving two men known to each other.
"A man in his 50s suffered cuts to his head and bruising to his body after being assaulted with a bat.
"It is believed that there was a disorder involving the pair earlier in the evening at The British Legion, Corsham.
"Two men in their 30s have been arrested in connection with this incident.
"A man from Melksham was arrested on suspicion of ABH, coercive and controlling behaviour and stalking.
"The second man arrested from Corsham was arrested for assisting an offender, possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and possessing of cannabis.
"Both men have been released on bail pending further investigation."
