Police in Swindon say a man in his 40s has been taken to hospital after blood was found and a cordon was put in place in Stratton Woods.

It follows a report from a member of the public earlier yesterday, and that scene has now been lifted.

Officers have thanked locals for their patience.

In a statement, they said: "Following a call from our colleagues in the ambulance service, it has been established that the blood in Stratton Woods relates to a mental health-related incident in the early hours of this morning.

"A man in his 40s was taken to hospital by the ambulance service for treatment.

"As such, we have lifted the scene. Thank you for your patience while this was dealt with."
