Coate Water Splash Park is reopening today.

The facility was closed down earlier this week (2 June) after it was discovered that it needed urgent repairs to its flooring.

According to Swindon Borough Council, some of the flooring tiles had come lose due to a failure of the concrete underneath despite regular maintenance during the off-season.

The issue arose soon after the splash park returned to regular use last month.

The issue has now been resolved by the manufacturer who will carry out a “thorough evaluation” of the site in the next off-season.

Swindon Borough Council has also announced that the limit of 18 degrees that was previously required for the splash park to open is no longer in place.

“We have also listened to feedback from residents, online and via email, telling us loud and clear that the 18 degree limit to opening the splash park is too high”, the authority said in a post on Facebook.

“We’ve therefore scrapped this condition for now, allowing the facility to be open more frequently, and will monitor the situation throughout the season.”

The Coate Water splash park underwent a £475,000 transformation last year.

The facilities are free to use are set to be open every day between 11am and 6pm from late May until the end of September.
