Coate Water Splash Park officially reopens
The Borough Council have confirmed the news on social media
Last updated 14th Aug 2024
It's been closed since July 2023 - and after earlier promising it would be open in time for the summer, that promise has been met, with Swindon Borough Council confirming it's doing just that from 11AM today (14 August).
There had been delays, and just last month, it was confirmed the reopening date would be 'later than originally planned' because of the soft floor surfacing being held up at customs over in Spain.
On social media, Swindon Borough Council said: "The brand new Splash Park at Coate Water opens tomorrow for everyone to enjoy.
"It’s open between 11am and 6pm every day from now until the end of September every year, provided heavy rain, strong winds or low temperatures don’t prevent it from being operated.
"Enjoy the paddling pool, water features, games and seating areas.
"The new Splash Park is fully wheelchair accessible and includes rumble strips, handrails and interactive elements outside of the wet zones.
"Thanks to everyone who took part in the survey and focus group last year to inform the new facility."
Councillor Marina Strinkovsky, Swindon Borough Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning and Placemaking, said: “I’m delighted that the splash park is completed and ready to open. I can’t wait to see it being enjoyed by families from across the Borough.
“The new splash park, along with the reopening of the golf, is a key part of building a better and greener Swindon.
“We want Coate Water to be a place that generations can enjoy for years to come, and making these improvements now is a big step towards that.”
