Cause of Swindon bungalow fire revealed
Crews from across the county were called out in the early hours of yesterday morning (13 November)
Investigations into a fire say the most likely cause of it at a bungalow in Swindon was an electric bathroom fan.
It broke out in the early hours of yesterday morning, and crews rescued one person, after the blaze broke out in the roof.
Teams from Swindon, Stratton, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett and Pewsey were all called out to the incident on Dove Road.
Crews from stations across the county were rushed out at the height of the incident.
In a statement to Greatest Hits Radio yesterday, bosses at Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue said: "We were called at 3.08am this morning (13 November) to Drove Road, Swindon for a fire in the roof of a bungalow.
"At the height of the incident, we had crews in attendance from Swindon (x2), Stratton (x2), Westlea, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett and Pewsey, together with the aerial ladder platform from Swindon and an incident command unit from Devizes.
"Six breathing apparatus wearers, two hose reel jets and a main jet have been used to tackle the fire. A male occupant of the property was brought to safety by firefighters and was handed into the care of the ambulance service.
"As at 6.30am, the incident has been scaled back to three crews and the aerial appliance. A road closure has been put in place on Drove Road, on the Old Town side of Groundwell Road.
"A fire investigation will be carried out in due course."
