Swindon Town have gained a valuable point at home this weekend - but it wasn't without its surprises, as the match was initially paused just minutes into yesterday's game against Crewe Alexandra.

It took less than four minutes at the County Ground for the referee put a pause to proceedings because of the poor visibility.

Gaffer Ian Holloway said he couldn't even see the pitch for the first half of the game.

Despite the delays - and the jeering from the crowd - the clean sheet, and goalless draw, gives the Robins a point, which they definitely needed, amid a crowded field at the foot of League Two.

Tranmere, Harrogate Town, Swindon Town and Accrington Stanley all sit on 25 points.

Manager Ian Holloway said: "Congratulations to our ground staff and volunteers - what they did to get the game on was incredible.

"Crewe's manager was also excellent, and it was handled brilliantly.

"It was insane at times, and I love the banter in the stands, and in the end, what a game.

"But it's all about the people - and absolutely, what we saw was what football was all about - even if I couldn't see the large majority of the first half!"

It was also the first match for Tom Nichols - who comes in on loan from League One side, Mansfield Town.
