Wiltshire Council has released more figures on Coronavirus in schools across the county.

As of 9 November, the local authority has had 37 positive COVID cases at 27 school settings, with 1,101 pupils self-isolating.

However, the authority claims that it is "seeing transmission outside of school and not within the school community".

The message to parents remains the same, that children should stay in education and there is no evidence that schools are becoming hotspots.

CARE HOMES:

Meanwhile, in the past seven days, people at 15 Wiltshire care homes have also tested positive for Coronavirus.

The majority of these are staff members.

The authority added: "Very few care homes have seen onward transmissions of COVID which demonstrates the effectiveness of infection prevention and control measures".

PATIENTS IN HOSPITAL

NHS England figures show that nine patients are being treated for COVID-19 at Salisbury District Hospital as of 8.15 GMT on 10 November.

Across our local hospitals, Great Western Hospital and the Royal United Hospital in Bath have 70 positive patients.
