The layout and appearance of 163 new homes due to be built in Devizes have been approved by Wiltshire Council.

Outline planning permission was granted for the land at Marshall Road last March and the details have now also been given the go-ahead.

The application described the design as having “evolved” and stated that the development would be predominantly comprised of 2-storey buildings.

The layout shows a central public open space area as well as a southern wildlife corridor.

Feature buildings will be placed around the site and each of these will be more distinct than the building surrounding them.

They will help to ensure that there is variation and a distinctiveness within each of the character areas, as well as creating points of interest and way finding tools throughout the site.
