Worthing pub fire investigated as possible arson attack
Crews were called out early yesterday morning (Sunday 12th)
A fire which broke out at a pub in Worthing early on Sunday morning (January 12th) is being treated as a potential arson attack by police.
Around 20 firefighters were sent to the Sussex Yeoman in Palatine Road at around 5.20am.
People were told to avoid the area while nearby roads, including the A2032 Littlehampton Road, were closed.
In a statement, Sussex Police said the building sustained 'significant damage' in the fire, but no-one was hurt.
A spokesperson added:
"Detectives are investigating the cause of the fire as deliberate and are carrying out enquiries.
"Police are urging anyone with any information or dash cam footage of the incident, which could help our investigation is asked to report online or phone 101 quoting serial 219 of 12/01."
