Woman rescued after falling from horse on West Wittering beach
Coastguard teams were sent out on Sunday (January 31st)
A woman has been taken to safety after she was injured falling from her horse at West Wittering beach.
Coastguard teams from Selsey and Hayling Island, and the Selsey inshore lifeboat, were called to the shoreline at 9.26am on Sunday (January 31st).
They were concerned that the incoming tide was coming in quickly.
A team member was able to move the woman out of the water, and once she was up she was able to walk to the top of the beach before being transferred to an ambulance.
Teams were then stood down.
A Selsey Coastguard Rescue Team spokesperson said:
“The coast and the sea can catch you out whether you’re local or not. Our message remains: call 999 Coastguard if you’re in trouble. Please help us and our families stay safe. Be aware of the risks, keep your distance.”
