A driver has died and another has been taken to hospital following a collision involving two cars on the A29 in West Sussex.

Emergency services were called to Fairmile Bottom in Madehurst, near Slindon, at 12.33pm on Friday (August 27th).

A woman in her eighties was confirmed dead at the scene.

The man driving the other car was taken to hospital to be treated for injuries.

Nobody else was reported involved.

The A29 was closed in both directions for the incident to be attended to, and Sussex Police has thanked for their patience and understanding over the inevitable delays that resulted.

Anyone who saw what happened is asked to contact Sussex Police either via collision.appeal@sussex.pnn.police.uk or by calling 101, quoting Operation Dordrecht.
