Woman arrested after man seriously injured in Brighton assault

Police have arrested a 32-year-old woman on suspicion of assault after a man was found with serious facial injuries in Brighton city centre.

Officers were called to the Pavilion Buildings, off North Street, at 3.15am on Thursday morning (February 23rd).

The area was cordoned off as part of police investigations.

The woman detained remained in custody as of Thursday afternoon.

A Sussex Police spokesperson said:

"At 3.15am on Thursday, February 23, police responded to a report of an assault between a man and woman.

"Officers attended the scene where they located a man with injuries to his face. He was taken to hospital with serious, but non-life threatening or life-changing injuries. The man currently remains in hospital.

"There will be heightened police presence in the area while officers conduct their enquiries."
