West Sussex beach named in UK's top ten for whitest sand
Three south coast beaches have some of the whitest sand
A beach in West Sussex has been named as having some of the whitest sand in the UK.
West Wittering was ranked seventh in a top ten list complied by Parkdean Resorts, which has a holiday park in Camber Sands, East Sussex.
Two other beaches on the south coast were also named as having some of the whitest sand, including Studland Bay and Bournemouth.
A spokesperson for the holiday firm said:
"Sand colour is mainly determined by the material that the sand is made up of, the different rocks and minerals that are common around the coast of that particular beach.
"By analysing the shade of the UK’s top 50 beaches we’re able to rank the beaches by their sand tone, helping us define the top 10 UK beaches with the whitest sand."
