It's for those who've had plans changed due to the new coronavirus rules

Those who may be spending Christmas alone are being offered free meals for the big day by a West Sussex pub firm.

Barr and Barr's which owns the Onslow Arms in Loxwood and the Wheatsheaf in Midhurst, are offering food to those whose plans have been hit by changes to the coronavirus restrictions.

Under new rules, those living in Tier 4 areas must remain within their households or support bubbles for the big day, meaning they would be unable to visit relatives and loved ones.

Those who sign up to get a turkey meal will have it delivered, with all the trimmings, to their door on Christmas Eve.

The Onslow Arms in Loxwood is one of two West Sussex pubs offering free dinners to those alone on Christmas Day

Rob Barr, operations director of Barr and Barr's, explained that 2020 is a year like no other and it may be the first year for many where they are unable to enjoy a Christmas dinner around the table with family.

“Christmas doesn’t need to be cancelled. We want our customers to enjoy a Christmas meal with all the trimmings who cannot enjoy it with family or friends.

"Family is at the heart of our business and we want to ensure no one misses out on a quintessential Christmas this year because of Covid 19 regulations.”

Those who would like to reserve a Christmas dinner are being asked to do it before 4pm on December 23rd.
