Teenager killed after his car overturns at petrol station in Uckfield

The 18-year-old passenger in the car escaped the crash unharmed

A teenager has been killed after the car he was driving overturned at a petrol station in Uckfield.

Sussex Police were alerted to an incident taking place at the Applegreen petrol station in the New Town area of Uckfield on Friday (February 14th).

Officers responded to the call just after 5pm and found that the car involved - a grey Audi A3 - had overturned.

Emergency services were called to the scene to treat the driver - a 17-year-old boy - and the front-seat passenger - an 18-year-old man.

The passenger, who is from Lewes escaped from the crash uninjured, but despite their best efforts the driver was sadly pronounced dead at the scene after receiving CPR.

Speaking on the case, Detective Sergeant Rosie Newman from Sussex Police said that investigations into the incident are now underway.

"Our enquiries to establish the exact circumstances of this tragic incident are ongoing. No other vehicles were involved," she said.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim’s loved ones at this extremely difficult time."

Sussex Police have now launched an appeal for anyone with information to get in touch as soon as possible.
