Two arrested after fight breaks out at Crawley shop

A man and a woman have been arrested after a fight broke out at a shop in Crawley High Street.

Police were called to The Emporium around 3pm on Monday, December 6th, following reports of a disturbance.

Four people, including shop staff, needed medical treatment for their injuries.

A 36-year-old man and a 29-year-old woman, both from Crawley, have been arrested on suspicion of a number of offences, including assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

The man is also suspected of assaulting an emergency worker.

Both have been released on conditional bail while police enquiries continue.

PC Josh de Valmency of Crawley CID said: “This assault happened in broad daylight at a time when the store and surrounding area was busy with shoppers.

“It has left staff shaken up and we are continuing to support them as our investigation progresses.

“The vital work of the justice system can only function with the support of our community, and I urge those who may have footage or further information to get in touch.”

Sussex Police are keen to speak to any witnesses to the altercation - especially those who may have video footage on their phones.
