All train services in and out of Bognor station have been suspended following a low-speed partial derailment early on Thursday morning (October 22nd).
The Bognor to Littlehampton passenger train left the tracks while leaving platform 4 of the station at 5.23am.
Southern has said the vehicle was travelling at a 'very slow speed' at the time of the incident.
No-one has been hurt and all those on board got off safely.
Investigators from Network Rail and the Rail Accident Investigation Board are now at the scene looking into the case of the incident.
A National Rail spokesperson said:
"The early news is that two sets of points have been damaged, so as well as the derailed train having to be lifted back onto the track, these will have to be repaired before we are allowed to run over the area.
"We can confirm that no passengers or crew were injured in this accident.
"This incident has meant that we cannot get all of our trains out of Bognor Regis station to run all of our services to full capacity.
"Please be aware that this may impact on social distancing, as some of our trains will be cancelled, and some will run with less coaches than normal, meaning more people will be aboard each train."
Rail replacement buses are now running between Bognor and Barnham and are being advertised on journey planners.
A shuttle bus service has also been requested to run between Barnham and Littlehampton.
