Toolkit tackles rise in children and young people's poor mental health in Sussex
The toolkit contains resources and links to help support parents, professionals and young people
Life in lockdown, isolation from friends and time away from school have all contributed to rising rates of poor mental health in children and young people, according to health bosses in Sussex
The Sussex Health and Care Partnership have created a toolkit to support parents, professionals and young people with improved mental health and wellbeing.
The toolkit includes tips and links to resources highlighting the importance of getting enough sleep, regular exercise and eating healthily.
There is also advice on how to spot signs of deteriorating mental health through changes in behaviour and when to be concerned.
Advice for parents, carers, young people and professionals
The easy-to-read guides are for sharing with schools, parents, and young people as well as GPs, community groups, and organisations who are working with young people across Sussex.
The kit has information about free apps, helplines and websites and where to go for help and support when things feel bad and overwhelming.
Sussex Partnership NHS Foundation Trust have also developed some useful cards to help parents and carers support a young person experiencing difficulties with their mental wellbeing.
