Free tickets are now available to visit historic gardens dubbed the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Worthing.

Highdown Gardens reopen to the public on June 2, following a £1 million improvement project there.

The need for tickets is only temporary, caused by the coronavirus pandemic, with visitors able to book a two hour slot and space limited to 30 people at one time.

The money has been used to improve accessibility to the gardens, construct a new visitors centre, new greenhouses and a sensory garden.

Highdown Gardens project manager Gwenn Parker-Tregoat said:

“We really are getting close now to welcoming back visitors who come from near and far to see these beautiful gardens.

“For the time being we are asking people to go to the website and book a slot to visit. There should be plenty of space for those who want to come and enjoy the grounds as they burst into a riot of summer colour.”
