Three arrested after police seize £45,000 in cash
Officers recovered the cash alongside weapons and drugs after stopping a vehicle in East Grinstead
Three people have been arrested after cash, weapons and drugs were recovered from a car in East Grinstead.
Officers from the Specialist Enforcement Unit stopped a suspicious Audi A3 for driving without insurance, shortly before 9pm on Monday (January 10).
A search of the vehicle recovered cannabis, weapons, a balaclava and £1,500 in cash in the glovebox.
The driver, a 22-year-old man, failed a roadside drugs test and a 21-year-old passenger was found to be in possession of cannabis.
The third passenger, a man aged 20, will face no further police action after no suspicious items or drugs were found on him.
Subsequent searches of the homes of the two arrested men found a significant quantity of cocaine and cash.
A 22-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of possessing offensive weapons in public, driving while under the influence of a specified drug, driving without insurance, possession of cannabis and being concerned in the supply of a class A drug.
A 21-year-old woman at the address in East Grinstead was also arrested on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of a class A drug.
Meanwhile officers also searched the address of a 21-year-old man, where they found weapons which were all seized.
He was arrested on suspicion of possessing cocaine, possessing cannabis, possessing an offensive weapon in a private place, possessing criminal property, and being concerned in the supply of a class A drug.
Around £45,000 in cash was seized from both addresses and the vehicles.
The three suspects have been released on bail until February the 8th.
