Teenager jailed after Crawley stabbing
He's been sent to prison for three years and eight months
A Crawley teenager, who stabbed a 17-year-old boy in July, has been jailed.
Emergency services were called to Martyr Avenue at around 9.50pm on Thursday, 17 July, to reports of a teenager having been stabbed.
He was treated at the scene by paramedics and taken to hospital with serious injuries, but has since made a recovery.
Enquiries found the victim had become involved in an altercation with two boys he did not know and, after an argument, was stabbed.
The suspect, a 17-year-old boy from Crawley, then fled the scene into a nearby property.
He was arrested the next day and subsequently charged with wounding with intent, possession of a bladed article and threatening a person with a bladed article. He was remanded into secure accommodation pending a trial.
At crown court sitting in Brighton, the defendant, who cannot be named due to his age, pleaded guilty to all charges.
At the same court on Friday (7 November), he was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.
Detective Chief Inspector Pauline Lane said: “This incident is another unwelcome reminder of the dangers of knife crime, which could have ended in tragic circumstances.
